Animated soccer passing drill with player rotation

Watch Croqa’s Break the lines example: a passing combination, a blindside run, a finish and player rotation. Use it to explain movement before training.

Break the lines · Croqa demonstration

An animated soccer drill lets players watch the ball and off-ball movement together. Croqa’s Break the lines demonstration shows a passing combination that ends with a run toward goal, a finish and rotation to the next position. It is a product demonstration, not a report from a team’s training session.

Set up your version

Use the animation as a starting point rather than a fixed prescription. It shows players labeled A, B, C and D, an X marker near goal and equipment marking positions. Place your starting stations and a goal so players can see the passing pattern clearly. Choose distances and pressure to suit your group; the demonstration does not specify pitch dimensions or an age group.

Follow the passing sequence

  • B checks away, and A passes to B.
  • C sets the ball back to A.
  • D makes a blindside run, and A passes to D.
  • D finishes on goal.
  • Players rotate to the next spot before the pattern repeats.

These are the visible captioned moments, not a complete written prescription for every touch. Watch the full sequence before setting up your own version, and decide which starting station each player should take after the finish.

Suggested coaching points

  • Ask the receiver to look before the ball arrives and prepare the next action.
  • Encourage a pass that the receiving player can control without stopping the pattern.
  • Time the run to create a passing option rather than arriving too early.
  • Pause after the finish and check that everyone knows their next station.

These are suggested prompts for your practice, not measured outcomes from the demonstration. Start without defensive pressure if players are still learning the sequence, then adapt the challenge to your group.

Create your own animated soccer drill

In Croqa, place your players and equipment, then add Pass, Dribble, Run or Shoot moves. You can also type instructions or upload a drill sheet. Review the animation and check player positions, the passing order and rotation before saving. Keep the first version short enough that your players can explain what happens next.

Put the drill into a session

Add your saved drill to a session plan, set the minutes and write a drill description separately from the coaching points. This keeps what players do distinct from what you want to coach. Use a static drill picture in the session and PDF so the plan still makes sense on paper.

Share before training

Send a public drill share link to players or parents so they can watch without an account. If your club uses Croqa Club, share the drill with its coach library so colleagues can find it too. Watch it together before the first repetition and ask players to describe both their next pass and their next station.
